Empirical Evaluation of Advanced Electromagnetic Induction Systems - Deployment Factors Affecting Efficiency of Implementation
MR-201314
Objective
Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) projects demonstrating recently developed advanced electromagnetic induction (EMI) tools for classification have produced excellent results with respect to performance of the systems and processing techniques; however, one of the challenging issues remaining is optimization of deployment platforms to increase productivity. The objective of this project is to investigate the deployment issue through empirical field demonstrations and data analysis.
Technology Description
The EMI technologies being utilized (TEMTADS 2x2, MetalMapper) have been well described, validated, and demonstrated through multiple Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) and ESTCP projects. These technologies include both hardware and software developed under SERDP/ESTCP. The deployment vehicles being tested are “off-the-shelf” from commercial vendors. The systems will be used at several live site demonstrations and data will be collected on performance. The demonstrations will include empirical evaluation of the optimal deployment technique determined from the Deployment Vehicle Study under actual (and varying) unexploded ordnance (UXO) site conditions.
