- Threatened, Endangered, and At-Risk Species on DoD and Adjacent Lands Symposium and Workshop. Held June 7-9, 2005, in Baltimore, Maryland, this Symposium brought together the nation's top researchers for endangered species. Developing effective methods for sustaining the DoD training and testing missions, while simultaneously protecting threatened and endangered species (TES), is a challenge requiring strong partnerships that support ongoing cutting-edge scientific research. The focus of the workshop was to help in establishing and fostering such partnerships. For more information, visit www.serdp.org/tesworkshop.
- Expert Panel Workshop on Research and Development Needs for the In Situ Management of Contaminated Sediments. SERDP and ESTCP co-sponsored a workshop August 10-11, 2004, to (1) examine the current state of the science and engineering, (2) identify the gaps in knowledge and technology, and (3) prioritize those gaps where investments in research and development or field demonstrations could have the greatest impact on DoD's aquatic sediments remediation program. Nearly 80 research needs were identified and prioritized at the workshop. These needs are described in the Workshop Final Report, which serves as a strategic plan to guide investments in the area of contaminated sediments over the next 5 years by SERDP and ESTCP.
