NBVC Port Hueneme , California , is an 80-acre harbor with 2 miles of canals and associated wetlands. It has contaminants available for technology demonstrations that include diesel fuel; gasoline; waste oil; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH); methyl-tert-butyl-ether (MTBE); benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX); chlorinated solvents; and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB). Any area within the port is available for conducting demonstrations.
Managed by the Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center (NFESC), this National Environmental Technology Test Sites (NETTS) site is used to demonstrate systems for characterizing and remediating soils, sediments, and groundwater using in-situ and ex-situ techniques. |
